This past weekend the DARK DOG Rally Moto Tour 2015 kicked of in Toulon, France. This was the first of seven events of the tour and counts into the 2015 French Championship in Moto Rally. Until September the tour will visit different regions of the country.
Around 150 drivers signed up. Friday was the day for all administrative and technical checks. Saturday there were a lot of events and exhibitions open to the public right in front of the Toulon Palais des Sports who hosted the opening event.
The route in Toulon was a loop of 150km between the Var and the Bouches-du-Rhône. 3 laps in this loop were on the agenda for Saturday morning. At night the riders did two more laps. The 4.5km special of Touron was going up Mont Faron and the road to the Col de l’Espigoulier from Gémenos. The weather conditions where brutal to be on the motorcycle. Rain and fog on Mount Faron and the Col de l’Espigoulier were not the ideal conditions for the race. Thibaut Bernard slipped and fell, but fortunately it was not a severe accident.
Julien Toniutti stood out from the beginning and won with an advantage of 10 seconds over the runner up.
